Dava Lee taught English and Spanish in Florida and Tennessee for 31 years. During those years, she found storytelling to be a helpful tool in education. In 1994 she completed her Masters Degree in Storytelling/Reading at East Tennessee State University. During the 90's she began to travel telling stories and found them especially useful on the mission field in Panama, Chiapas, MX, and Piedras Negras, MX.

At the present time Dava Lee is currently involved in managing Dava Lee Russell Ministries where she and her husband lead Bible studies, Christian retreats, and travel with mission teams. Storytelling has become a very important part of their outreach into the community as well as abroad.

In 1996 Dava Lee published her first book, A Family's Heritage, Stories from Main Street, Jonesborough. Having grown up in the Cunningham House on Main Street, Jonesborough, her local colorful stories bring vivid memories of the simple life of living in a small town.

Because of her travels throughout the western world, Dava Lee brings stories to life from the United States, Spain, England, and the Hispanic world. Using every situation to involve the audience with song as well as other activities, she invites her audience to full participation and often has them on their feet.

Dava Lee has been a member of the Jonesborough Storytelling Guild since 1994. Working closely with Flora Joy, she has served on the editorial board for Storytelling World and has had stories published in the same magazine. She has performed many places in the United States, Spain, Israel, Mexico, and Panama.
