Workshop Proposal Format

By Carole Ann Hubner

1. Workshop Title

2. Workshop Description

A paragraph which describes what you plan to do in your workshop, what topics you will cover, if it will be lecture style or participatory.  Basically what it is about and very important, who it is for - who is your audience.  For example, you would want to tell whether a workshop is for very beginning storytellers, or advanced, or maybe it's for teachers who are not tellers.  Include the number of attendees your workshop can handle (i.e. can you work with a large group or small, only even numbers, etc.).

3. Objectives

Briefly describe what you want attendees to learn from your workshop.

4. Time

How much time do you need to accomplish your workshop? Can you adapt your idea to fit different time requirements?

5. Support Materials

Do you have handouts? Will you be bringing them or sending them prior? Conference attendees like hand-outs - if you don't have any now, it might be beneficial to consider adding some.

6. Technical Requirements

Do you need a TV or VCR, tape recorder, lights, etc? Do you expect the presenter to supply these, or will you bring them yourself?

7. Your Experience

Where and when have you taught this workshop before? What experience do you have that gives you expertise to teach this workshop? What response have you received from this workshop in the past? Include references.

NOTE: You should also send your press packet at the time you apply.
